Spider-Man 3 — aka Spider-Man: No Way Home — is official, but its cast is a far different situation. The film’s series of possible guest-stars has gotten more headlines than nearly anything in recent Marvel movie news, as rumblings of many past Spider-Man stars returning set the internet ablaze. And we just learned that this is likely not the end of Holland’s run as Peter Parker.
And while it could have been seen as mere speculation, Alfred Molina broke the news that he was returning on his own in an interview. We can’t imagine that was Marvel’s plan … unless it really was. And then, most recently the Loki finale saw a huge event that pretty much gives Marvel all the tools they need to go nuts with Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Now all we need is the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer, to confirm any or all of these speculations. Will this continue the transition from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse (MCM)? Let’s break down the rumors about this upcoming Marvel movie. Oh, and one note: at the end of the Cast section, we’ve got some spoilers about a recently released movie that may tie into Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Spider-Man: No Way Home was confirmed after a bit of fun from the movie’s stars. Tom Holland, Jacob Batalon and Zendaya each revealed a different title along with press photos on their social media accounts. Eagle-eyed fans drew a theory from these photos, that our trio of leads would find their way into Doctor Strange’s base of operations.
Spider-Man: No Way Home latest news (updated Nov. 30)
There will be more Tom Holland Spider-Man movies, according to a studio executive.
The high demand for No Way Home tickets crashed box office websites.
The new trailer gives us more Green Goblin voice-overs, or at least it sounds like that.
Spider-Man: No Way Home cast
There has been a lot of speculation about which characters are set to appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home, beyond the previously confirmed appearances of Benedicts Cumberbatch and Wong as Doctor Strange and his sassy partner Wong.
We’ve also heard that a number of actos from classic (read: non-MCU) films would be returning to their roles, including Jamie Foxx as Electro and Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus. Early rumors also speculated that Charlie Cox might reprise his role as Matt Murdock, and mark the first time the character has appeared on the big screen since the disastrous 2003 Daredevil movie.
More recently those rumors changed, and suggested that both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield would be reprising role as Peter Parker from previous Spider-Man movies. Those rumors also claimed that Kirsten Dunst and Emma Stone may also be returning as Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacey.
But rumors are rumors, and should be treated as such until Marvel and Sony confirms or denies their legitimacy. Here’s who we know is going to star in the movie, based on official announcements and the newly-released teaser trailer.
Also, we have a SPOILER WARNING, per another recently released movie. So right below the list of cast you’ll find what that relates so.
